From the reviews you would think that this is a bad place but it's actually a nice decent low key Juke joint. I had the shrimp and grits and it was pretty decent I've had better but it was nice. Good amount of shrimp I would prefer actual silverware spoon instead of plastic with silverware fork and with the corn bread put some butter on the top. The uptown was delicious and the waitress was so kind. I would left a tip but there was nowhere on the receipt to add one and I had no cash. I gave 4 stars because the bathroom needs paper towels.

My Keith Lee review: This one gets 5-stars. Catfish was a 9.7, light and flaky, seasoned so good, a tad salty, but melt in your mouth delicious. Candied yams was a 10, just sooo good, actually candied and not just coated in sugar. Cornbread, 9.9, light and fluffy, sweet and fresh out the oven. Mac and cheese, I'm gonna give it an 8.9, not too hard or too loose, just right, flavor was missing something. Fried broccoli , who knew this was so banging, 9.5, great flavor and the broccoli was still bright green and fresh, not dried out.

Good prices and adequate servings and good food. It's not a fancy restaurant but the food is genuinely good.

I ordered through Ubereats the fried catfish, candy yams, collard greens, mac and cheese, and yellow rice. The catfish I will say was cooked perfectly ie...crunchy on the outside while moist and flaky on the inside, but it was so overseasoned wth salt I just could not enjoy nor finish it. To the owners, I hope this was just a one time thing because I truly do intend to try again. But please pay attention to quality control, please, because I really want to love this and I know could've if the salt level was pulled back by a lot! Someone in that kitchen went salt crazy! I felt like I was just eating more salt than fish. Thats how bad it was. The mac & cheese was perfect and so was the collard greens and the cornbread. The yellow rice wasn't as impressive as the other sides just mentioned. I'll skip that on my next time.
